MADISON, Miss. – The Coastal Carolina men's golf team finished atop the leaderboard following three rounds of stroke play to advance to the match play semifinals of the 2025 Sun Belt Conference Championships at the Annandale Golf Club.
The No. 1 seed Chanticleers will take on the No. 4 seed Troy on Thursday morning at 8:30 a.m. ET. Arkansas State will face Georgia Southern in the other semifinal. The two winners face off in the championship match immediately following the conclusion of the semifinal matches. CCU and Troy will tee off on No. 1, while the Red Wolves and Eagles will go off No. 10.
Coastal Carolina shot 14-under par 850 (285-285-280) to finish one stroke ahead of reigning conference champion Arkansas State (278-288-285=851). Georgia Southern finished 8-under 276 in third place while Troy carded a team total of 6-under 878 to claim fourth place.
Trace McDonald fired a 54-hole total of 3-under 216 to lead the Chanticleers and finish in 10th place after posting a 4-under 68 in round three. McDonald birdied each of the final three holes to post the lowest score by a CCU player in the championship.
Max Bengtsson posted a 71 for the second straight day and finished at 2-under 214 to tie for 11th.
Trey Crenshaw and
Jack Lee tied for 15th at 1-under 215, while
Drew Sykes placed 18th at par 216. Crenshaw shot 3-under 69 in the final round after shooting 2-over on the first 36 holes, while Lee pared the course Wednesday.
The semifinals and finals of the Sun Belt Conference Championship will be streamed on ESPN+.
