CONWAY, S.C. – Coastal Carolina graduate
Sydney McClure has been named the Atlantic Sun Conference Co-Offensive Player of the Year the league announced Tuesday. She is one of six Chanticleers to earn all-conference recognition this season.
McClure was also named First Team All-ASUN for the second straight season, while
Alyson Mascolo,
Gabrielle Beaudet, Lilly Wallace and
Charlotte Sadler were each selected second team all-conference with
Megan Hummel receiving all-freshman team honors. Wallace was also named to the ASUN all-academic team.
McClure is the third ASUN Offensive Player of the Year in program history, joining Kayla Downey (2023) and Haley Alexander (2019). This season she totaled a conference-best 73 points with 50 goals and 23 assists – ranking second in goals and fourth in assists. She leads the conference in free position goals per game (1.00) and free position percentage (.640).
During conference play, McClure led all ASUN players in points (32) and goals (22).
Mascolo started all 16 games and ranked second on the team in goals scored (33). The junior posted career highs in most statistical categories including goals, points (35), ground balls (12) and draw controls (42).
An all-freshman team selection last season, Beaudet scored 26 goals, picked up 17 ground balls and had 34 draw controls. Thirteen of her 26 goals came during ASUN play with a career-high five against Queens in the home finale.
Wallace led the Chanticleers' defense with a team-best 15 caused turnovers, while her 23 ground balls were the most among all CCU position players.
Sadler is an All-ASUN honoree for the second straight season, ranking second in the conference in goals against average (13.46), save percentage (.405), and saves per game (7.63), while she was third in total saves (122). She recorded a career-high 19 saves against Liberty earlier in the year – one of four games in which she had double-digit saves.
Hummel played in all 16 games and scored eight goals, collected seven ground balls and won seven draw control face-offs. She scored two goals in the Chanticleers 14-7 win over Stetson, which included her second of three free position goals during the year.
CCU opens the ASUN Women's Lacrosse Championship on Thursday, May 1, against regular season champion Jacksonville in Lynchburg, Va. The game is scheduled for 1 p.m. and will be streamed on ESPN+.
