STATESBORO, Ga. — The Coastal Carolina softball team shut out Georgia Southern, 4-0, to take game three in Statesboro, Ga., on Sunday afternoon.
The Chanticleers were first to get on the scoreboard in the top of the third inning when
Georgia Hood smashed a two-run single up the middle, scoring
Sydney Montoya and
Libby Pippin to give Coastal a 2-0 lead.
After two scoreless innings,
Keirstin Roose added to the Chanticleers' total with a solo home run over the left-center field wall, making it 3-0.
Pippin followed suit with a solo home run of her own in the top of the seventh to secure the 4-0 shutout win.
Nicolette Picone improved to 17-4 in the circle, refusing to allow a single run while giving up just three hits in her 15th complete game of the season.
