Spring Tournament Renamed As Part Of Men's Golf Schedule

CONWAY, S.C. - Coastal Carolina will host the newly renamed Michael A. Marino tournament at the Dunes Golf and Beach Club in Myrtle Beach as part of its 2025-26 men's golf schedule, head coach Jacob Wilner announced on Friday.

The Michael A. Marino, formerly the General James Hackler Championship, is named in honor of the late Mike Marino, who was an active member of the Dunes Golf and Beach Club for over 30 years before his passing in 2024.

"We are excited to partner with the Marino family and continue the tradition of our spring event at the Dunes Club," said Wilner. "We are grateful to Patrick Marino and his family for their support of our program, and we are proud to honor and remember his late father in this way."

The Chanticleers have hosted the spring event each season since 2002, which has been held at the Dunes Golf and Beach Club since 2015.

The Michael A. Marino will take place from March 15-17, 2026, alongside the General James Hackler College Amateur Championship on March 14, where club and community members will be paired with college players competing in the tournament.

The Chanticleers will open the fall season hosting the Myrtle Beach Golf Trips Intercollegiate on Sept. 7-9 at the Grande Dunes Golf Resort in Myrtle Beach, then head to suburban Chicago to compete in the Highlands Invitational on Sept. 15-16 at the Chicago Highlands Club.

The Chants continue the fall slate three weeks later at the West Bay Invitational on Oct. 6-7 at the West Bay Club in Estero, Fla.

CCU ends the fall schedule at the Everett Buick GMC Classic in Little Rock, Ark., on Oct. 13-14.

The spring portion of the schedule begins with the Battle at Briars Creek on John's Island, Feb. 2-3. The Chants return to action a month later, March 7-9, at The Hayt held at TPC Sawgrass Country Club in Ponte Vedra Beach, Fla.

The following week, the Chanticleers will host The Michael A. Marino, which includes 15 of the nation's top teams. CCU then makes the short trip to Awendaw to play in the Hootie at Bulls Bay Intercollegiate, hosted by the University of South Carolina, on March 22-24 at the Bulls Bay Golf Club.

Coastal will conclude the regular season April 13-14 at the Mossy Oaks Golf Club in West Point, Miss.

The 2026 Sun Belt Conference Men's Golf Championship will take place on April 27-30 at the Annandale Golf Club in Madison, Miss., where the Chanticleers captured their third Sun Belt championship last season.
