Volleyball Opens Preseason Camp

CONWAY, S.C. - The Coastal Carolina volleyball team opened preseason camp on Monday with a pair of practice sessions at the HTC Center.

The Chanticleers open camp with 15 players on the roster, including seven returners and eight newcomers , consisting of two graduate transfers, another pair of Division I transfers , and four freshmen.

"It's a fun time of year getting the family back together," Chanticleer head coach Steve Loeswick said. "There's a lot of new energy and noise in the gym. We take a lot of pride in building those personal connections that allow us to play well together and push each other to be better.

"It's a continuous build and process, but we have a team that's vested in each other, and I think it has the chance to be a special season."

Junior First Team All-Sun Belt Conference performer Jalyn Stout leads the returning group. She was the only player to start all 30 matches and one of four to play in all 118 sets a year ago. The Gainesville, Fla., native set an NCAA record with 20 triple-doubles, leading the team with 402 kills and 582 assists.

Junior outside hitter Emily Fowler tallied 250 kills, third-most on the squad a year ago, and junior setter Ava Wallis had 213 assists, also third-most on the team in 2024.

Senior defensive specialist Bailee Earnhardt's 183 digs are second-most among all returning players behind Stout's 392.

Senior Leah Olsen and juniors Anna Smith and Emma Van Elslande are also back for the 2025 campaign.

Graduate transfers Kibi Jae' Huggins (Southeastern Louisiana) and Becca Micelle (Clemson) join the program this fall, while fellow transfers Anzley Rinard (Oral Roberts) and Anna Rita (Austin Peay) arrived on campus for the 2025 spring semester.

Elin Andersson, a member of the Swedish national team, Julia Rose Rivera, Bella Loeswick, and Kayla Channell make up the freshman class.

The Chanticleers open the season Labor Day Weekend, hosting Maryland on Friday, Aug. 29, at 6 p.m. and North Carolina on Sunday, Aug. 3, at 1 p.m. Admission is free.
