ELON, N.C. – The Coastal Carolina men's tennis team earned four wins on the opening day of the Elon Invitational on Friday. The duo of
Christopher Norlin and
Iannis Fernandes advanced to the C doubles draw final after picking up wins over Richmond and SC State.
- Juan Cruz Collardin and Norlin fell in the first round of the A singles draw to Nicolas Kotzen (Columbia) and Andres Medus (Charlotte), respectively.
- Jack Dixon advanced to the second round of the C singles draw after defeating VCU's Patrik Petera 6-3, 0-6, 6-2.
- Fernandes dropped his first-round match in the D singles draw, 6-3, 6-2, to Charlie Burdell of Richmond.
- Senior Rivers Cahill fell 6-4, 6-3 to Furman's Landan Ecarma in the E singles draw.
- In doubles play, Norlin and Fernandes recorded a 6-2 win over Richmond before earning a convincing 6-1 victory against Furman to advance to the C doubles draw final.
- Cahill and Collardin advanced to the C doubles draw semifinals with a 6-1 win over Furman but fell 6-4 to VCU to end their run.
