NEW ORLEANS – Coastal Carolina setter
Jalyn Stout was named the Sun Belt Offensive Player of the Week for her performances versus Maryland and North Carolina, the league office announced on Tuesday. It is the third weekly conference award of her career.
The Gainesville, Fla., native finished with 33 kills, 38 assists, and 19 digs, while hitting .301. She was also credited with three service aces and three block solos, all against Maryland as the Chanticleers took down the Terrapins in five sets. The three solo blocks were a career high.
Stout averaged 3.38 kills, 4.22 assists, 2.11 digs, and 4.39 points per set.
In the season-opening match Friday against Maryland, Stout recorded her 35th career triple-double with 20 kills, 22 assists, and 10 digs, while hitting .381, rallying the Chants from a 2-1 deficit. She finished one dig shy of a triple-double Sunday against North Carolina, accumulating 13 kills, 16 assists, and nine digs.
The Chanticleers wrap up their season-opening three-game homestand Wednesday night against South Carolina. The first serve is slated for 6 p.m. at the HTC Center.
