HATTIESBURG, MISS. - Coastal Carolina women's basketball (9-11, 2-6) continues their week on the road with Southern Miss (11-8, 4-4) on Saturday, Jan. 24 in Hattiesburg, Miss. Tip-off is set for 1:00 p.m. ET and will be streamed live on ESPN+ as well as the Chanticleer Sports Network. The original tip-off time was 3:00 p.m. ET, but was moved up due to expected weather.
ABOUT THE CHANTS
- Of Coastal's eight conference games, six have been decided by six points or less. The Chants are 1-5 in those games.
- The Chanticleers are one of the highest-volume three-point shooting teams in the country, ranking 20th with 9.0 three-pointers per game and 346th with 25.8 three-point attempts per game.
- Coastal fell 69-66 to Louisiana on Wednesday night in Lafayette.
- The Chants brought the game within one with six seconds left but could not complete the comeback.
- Coastal went 20-63 (32%) from the field and 6-30 (20%) from three-point range, while making 20 of 33 free throws.
- Through 14 games, Coastal ranks 68th in the country with 73.8 points per game
- Williams leads the team in scoring with 13.8 points per game.
ABOUT THE GOLDEN EAGLES
- Southern Miss holds an 11-8 overall record and is 4-4 in Sun Belt play.
- The Golden Eagles fell to Marshall 61-52 on Thursday.
- Jakayla Johnson leads the team in scoring with 14.0 points per game.
- Missy Bilderback is in her first year as the head coach of the Golden Eagles after leading ULM for two seasons.

- Coastal will be meeting Southern Miss for the 4th time, with the Golden Eagles leading the series 2-1.
- The last time these two teams met was March 6, 2024, where the Golden Eagles won 70-53 in the Sun Belt tournament.

CALLING KRISTIN
- In her second season with Coastal, graduate guard Kristin Williams had led the Chants in scoring, averaging 13.8 points per game.
- Williams has found her groove in Sun Belt play, averaging 15.0 points per game across seven conference games.
- She ranks second the country with 3.3 three-pointers per game and overall three-pointers weith 65.
- Williams scored her 1,000th career point against South Alabama on Jan. 17.
THREE-POINT PARTY
- Currently, Coastal ranks 20th in the country with 9.0 made three-pointers per game.
- The Chants are also ranked 34th in the country with 25.8 three-point attempts per contest.
- Both Kristin Williams and Tessa Grady rank in the top-30 in the country for made three-pointers, with Williams in second (65) and Grady tied for 31st (51).
- Williams and Grady rank first and fourth in the SBC with 3.3 and 2.6 three-pointers per game.
COASTAL CHAOS
- Head Coach Kevin Pederson coined the term "Coastal Chaos" prior to last season due to his philosophy of tough defense and forcing teams to be uncomfortable.
- The stats backed up the chaotic defense, as the Chants led the Sun Belt with 20.3 turnovers forced per game and ranked second in steals per game with 10.88.
- This season, Coastal ranks 67th in the country with 19.6 turnovers forced per game, and 122nd with a turnover margin of 2.0.
PEDERSON REACHES 500
- Coastal Carolina Head Coach Kevin Pederson won his 500th career game on Dec. 29, 2025 against Columbia College.
- He holds 57 victories at Coastal, the fastest coach in program history to reach that mark.
