CONWAY, S.C. — Coastal Carolina looks to snap a three-game losing streak and close out its four-game homestand Saturday afternoon when it hosts App State at the HTC Center in Sun Belt Conference action.
Coastal Carolina Chanticleers dropped a 70–66 decision to Old Dominion on Thursday night despite cutting a double-digit deficit to one possession late.
Joshua Beadle led the Chanticleers with 18 points, while
Reggie Hill added 16 on four 3-pointers.
Rasheed Jones finished with 10 points, and
Nadjrick Peat contributed seven points and four blocks.
App State Mountaineers won the first meeting between the teams this season, 67–49, in Boone, N.C., using a decisive second half run to break open a tie game. App State enters Saturday's contest at 10-7 overall and 3-2 in league play after a 52–50 road win at Georgia State on Thursday and has alternated wins and losses over its last five games.
The teams rank near the bottom of the Sun Belt in scoring offense, with App State averaging 73.1 points per game and Coastal Carolina at 72.8, but both have relied on defense. The Mountaineers lead the conference in scoring defense at 66.7 points per game, while both squads are tied for second in field-goal percentage defense, holding opponents to 39.1 percent shooting.
Kasen Jennings leads App State with 14.4 points per game, followed by Alonzo Dodd (11.8) and Luke Wilson (10.9). Wilson also leads the Mountaineers with 7.2 rebounds per game and ranks fifth in the league at 1.47 blocks per contest.
The Mountaineers hold a 15–4 edge in the all-time series and have won five straight meetings. Coastal Carolina is seeking its first win over App State since a 93–84 overtime victory at the HTC Center in 2023.
A Chanticleer victory would snap a three-game skid, end a five-game losing streak in the series, and even Coastal's overall record at 9–9.
