GREENVILLE, N.C. – Alexandra Horn totaled six points on two goals and four assists to help the Coastal Carolina women's lacrosse team earn a 12-8 road victory over East Carolina on Saturday afternoon at Bill Clark Homes Field at Johnson Stadium.

Coastal Carolina (3-0) led wire-to-wire, opening the game with three straight goals and taking a 7-4 advantage into halftime. The Chanticleers pushed the margin to five early in the fourth quarter and held off a late ECU push to secure the four-goal win.

Four Chanticleers recorded multi-goal games as Megan Hummel, Sophie Kingsborough and Evelyn Kitchin each scored twice alongside Horn. Nikki Seven, Carleigh Patterson, Gabrielle Beaudet and Alyson Mascolo also found the back of the net in the win.

Charlotte Sadler anchored Coastal's defensive effort in goal, finishing with 13 saves while the Pirates generated 29 shots.

After Coastal struck first on Hummel's goal at the 14:04 mark of the opening quarter, Kingsborough and Kitchin added goals to make it 3-0 before East Carolina answered with two late first-quarter scores. Coastal responded with a 3-0 run in the second quarter to regain control and carried a three-goal cushion into the break.

East Carolina (1-1) trimmed the deficit in the fourth, but Coastal answered with goals from Kitchin and Hummel to keep the Pirates at bay down the stretch.

The Chants return action Wednesday, Feb. 18, at Charlotte. The game is scheduled for a 4 p.m. start.
