HARRISONBURG, VA. - Coastal Carolina women's basketball (14-16, 7-10) will face James Madison in their final regular season game of the season on Friday at the Atlantic Union Bank Center in Harrisonburg, Va. Tip-off is set for 5:00 p.m. ET and will be streamed live on ESPN+ as well as the Chanticleer Sports Network.
ABOUT THE CHANTS
- Despite being 6-10 in conference play, the Chants are still the sixth-best Sun Belt team in the NET rankings, ranking 133rd overall.
- The Chanticleers are one of the highest-volume three-point shooting teams in the country, ranking 20th with 8.7 three-pointers per game and 33rd with 25.3 three-point attempts per game.
- Coastal defeated Georgia State 92-84 in overtime on Tuesday in Atlanta.
- The Chants outscored the Panthers 15-7 in overtime to secure their first overtime win since Feb. 16, 2013 (70-67 over Gardner-Webb).
- Coastal went 29-57 (51%) from the field and 8-22 (36%) from three-point range, while making 26 of 35 free throws.
- Kristin Williams hit six three-pointers and scored 22 points to lead the Chants.
- Through 30 games, Coastal ranks 66th in the country with 73.1 points per game
- Grady leads the team with 13.7 points per game.
ABOUT THE DUKES
- James Madison holds a 22-8 overall record and 13-4 in Sun Belt play, currently tied for 2nd in the conference standings.
- The Panthers beat Old Dominion 77-55 in Harrisonburg on Wednesday.
- Peyton McDaniel leads the team in scoring with 18.6 points per game.
- Sean O'Regan is in his 10th season as the head coach of the Dukes with a record of 232-89.
TESSA'S TIME
- Junior Tessa Grady has reached another level the last nine games, averaging 16.9 points per game.
- In those nine games, Grady has shot 49% (54-110) from the field and 43% from three (26-60).
- Grady ranks fourth in the conference in three-point percentage at 36%.
THREE-POINT PARTY
- Currently, Coastal ranks 20th in the country with 8.7 made three-pointers per game.
- The Chants are also ranked 33rd in the country with 25.3 three-point attempts per contest.
- Both Kristin Williams and Tessa Grady rank in the top-25 in the country for made three-pointers, with Williams tied for 14th (81) and Grady tied for 21st (79).
- Williams and Grady rank second and third in the SBC with 2.8 and 2.7 three-pointers per game.
COASTAL CHAOS
- Head Coach Kevin Pederson coined the term "Coastal Chaos" prior to last season due to his philosophy of tough defense and forcing teams to be uncomfortable.
- The stats backed up the chaotic defense, as the Chants led the Sun Belt with 20.3 turnovers forced per game and ranked second in steals per game with 10.88.
- This season, Coastal ranks 52nd in the country with 19.6 turnovers forced per game, and 125th with a turnover margin of 1.6.
