CONWAY, S.C. – The Coastal Carolina softball team suffered an 11-1 loss to No. 8 Arkansas at St. John Stadium on Saturday afternoon.
With the loss, the Chants fall to 1-2 on the season.
The Razorbacks took the lead in the top of the second inning when Cam Harrison and Kailey Wyckoff each laced RBI singles to make the score 2-0.
Arkansas added three more runs in the top of the third, scoring on a double, a fielder's choice, and a passed ball to take a 5-0 advantage.
In the top of the fourth inning, Arkansas extended its lead to 8-0, bringing in runs on an RBI single, a wild pitch, and a CCU fielding error.
Three more runs came in for the Razorbacks in the top of the fifth inning when Ramsey Walker roped a three-run homer over the left-field wall to make the score 11-0.
Livi Payne prevented the shutout in the bottom of the fifth inning with a hard-hit double that drove in a run, bringing the final score to 11-1.
Savannah Jones suffered her first loss in the circle, allowing four runs on five hits over 2.0 innings of work.
The Chants will return to action on Feb. 8 to take on Virginia at 1:30 p.m. ET.
