CONWAY, S.C. — The Coastal Carolina softball team suffered a series sweep to the Georgia Southern Eagles, falling 10-2 on Saturday afternoon at St. John Stadium.
Georgia Southern stormed out to an early lead in the top of the first inning, scoring on a bases-loaded walk and a two-run single by Carley Ramsden to take a 3-0 advantage.
The Eagles added five more runs in the top of the second inning, using three singles and a groundout to extend their lead to 8-0.
Coastal got on the board in the bottom of the third inning when
Georgia Hood delivered an RBI single to right-center field, cutting the deficit to 8-1.
In the bottom of the fourth inning,
Brie Normandin crossed home plate on a wild pitch to make it 8-2.
Georgia Southern added two insurance runs in the top of the seventh inning when Braelyn Queen hit a two-run home run over the left-field wall to secure the 10-2 victory.
Abby Henderson dropped to 7-11 in the circle, allowing seven runs on four hits over 1.0 inning of work.
