CONWAY, S.C. – The Coastal Carolina softball team dropped a 5-2 contest to the No. 10 Florida State Seminoles on Saturday afternoon.
After three scoreless innings, the Seminoles broke the game open when Marin Heller and Bella Ruggiero recorded back-to-back RBIs, and Angelee Bueno brought in another run on a groundout to give Florida State a 3-0 lead.
Coastal responded in the bottom of the sixth inning when
Libby Pippin cracked an opposite-field home run, and
Delaney Keith immediately followed with a home run of her own to narrow the gap to 3-2.
The Seminoles extended their lead in the top of the seventh inning, scoring on a groundout and a wild pitch to make the score 5-2.
Florida State recorded a 1-2-3 final inning to secure the 5-2 victory.
Mackenzie Childers dropped to 1-3 in the circle, allowing three runs on nine hits across 4.2 innings of work.
