PONTE VEDRA BEACH, Fla. – Behind a strong second-round performance, the Coastal Carolina men's golf team climbed four spots into a tie for eighth place after two rounds of play at The Hayt, hosted by North Florida at Sawgrass Country Club.

The Chanticleers opened the tournament in 12th place after an even-par 288 in the first round before posting a 7-under 281 in Sunday's second round, one of the better team rounds of the day, to move to 7-under 569 through 36 holes in the 16-team field.

Coastal Carolina enters Monday's final round tied with No. 17 North Carolina for eighth place and sits three shots ahead of No. 40 Clemson, seven shots in front of No. 1 Virginia, and 10 shots ahead of No. 20 Duke.

No. 21 Charlotte leads the tournament at 18-under, while No. 6 LSU and No. 2 Auburn are tied for second at 15-under. No. 11 Texas Tech (-14) sits fourth, followed by South Carolina (-12), No. 15 Alabama (-11) and South Florida (-8).

Junior Jack Lee leads the Chanticleers individually and is tied for 14th place at 4-under 140 after rounds of 69 and 71.

Sophomore Drew Sykes sits at par-144 through 36 holes after carding a 1-under 71 in Sunday's second round.

Freshman Santiago Schele, senior Max Bengtsson, and freshman Lucas Arntsen are tied for 48th place at 1-over 145. Schele rebounded from a 5-over 77 in the opening round with a 4-under 68 on Sunday, while Bengtsson and Arntsen posted identical rounds of 74 and 71.

Freshman Harrison James sits in 55th place at 2-over 146 after rounds of 72 and 74.

The tournament concludes Monday with the final 18 holes at Sawgrass Country Club. Coastal Carolina will begin Monday's final round paired with South Florida and North Carolina, with tee times starting at 8:45 a.m.
