ROME, GA. - The Coastal Carolina men's tennis team defeated Georgia State 4-0 in the opening round of the Sun Belt Conference Tournament on Thursday morning, securing its first winning season since 2019.
"A great bounce back win today. We hit the snide last week and I was really proud to see that fight come back today," said head coach
Chris Powers. "We are playing with house money now and excited to take on the three-time champs tomorrow."
- Coastal Carolina opened strong, clinching the doubles point, with a 7-6(5) win on court three from Iannis Fernandes and Curzio Manucci
- The Chants carried that momentum into singles play, winning three courts in straight sets to clinch the match.
- Christopher Norlin earned a 6-2, 6-1 win on court one, while Juan Cruz Collardin followed with a 6-3, 6-2 victory on court two.
- Curzio Manucci sealed the win with a 6-4, 6-4 decision on court five.
- Coastal will return to action on Friday, April 17 at 10 a.m., taking on Old Dominion in the quaterfinal of the 2026 Sun Belt Conference Tournament.
