LAFAYETTE, La. – The Coastal Carolina softball team dropped an 8-2 contest to the Louisiana Ragin' Cajuns on Sunday afternoon in Lafayette, La.
Louisiana took a 2-0 lead in the bottom of the first inning, scoring on an RBI triple from Haley Hart and an RBI single from Emily Smith.
The Ragin' Cajuns added four more runs in the bottom of the second frame, highlighted by an RBI double from Kennedy Marceaux and a pair of RBI singles from Mia Liscano and Hart to extend the lead to 6-0.
Louisiana continued its offensive surge in the bottom of the third inning, plating two runs on a double steal and an RBI single from Liscano to make the score 8-0.
The Chanticleers got on the scoreboard in the top of the fourth when McKennah Metzger smashed a two-run home run over the left-center field wall. However, Coastal was unable to rally, falling 8-2.
Mackenzie Childers dropped to 2-7 in the circle, allowing eight runs on 10 hits over 6.0 innings of work.
