Men's Golf In Front On Day One Of SBC Championship

MADISON, Miss. – Coastal Carolina holds a two-stroke lead over the field following the first round of competition at the 2026 Sun Belt Men's Golf Championship at Annandale Golf Club.
The reigning Sun Belt champion Chanticleers shot a 6-under-par 282 to take sole possession of first place after Monday's opening round. Arkansas State is in second place at 4-under 284, while Southern Miss is third at even-par 288. South Alabama is fourth at 1-over 289, followed by James Madison in fifth at 2-over 290.
CCU sophomore Drew Sykes and seniors Max Bengtsson and Owen Kim each shot 2-under 70 in the opening round and are tied for fourth place. Kim led the trio with six birdies, including four over the final seven holes of his round.
Bengtsson was 2-over through five holes but finished the round bogey-free with four birdies and nine pars. Sykes carded 14 pars, added three birdies and had just one bogey.
Junior Jack Lee and freshman Lucas Arntsen are part of an eight-way tie for 16th place at even-par 72.
Arkansas State's Jake Wallis leads the field at 4-under 68, one stroke ahead of Southern Miss' Benjamin Fernandez and Texas State's Sakke Siltala.
Play resumes Tuesday at approximately 9 a.m. EDT with Coastal Carolina paired with Arkansas State and Southern Miss.
