CONWAY, S.C. – Coastal Carolina University has named Pete Cuadrado as its next head women's soccer coach, Vice President for Intercollegiate Athletics and University Recreation Chance Miller announced.
Cuadrado brings more than two decades of Division I coaching experience to Conway, including head coaching stints at Tarleton State, Wyoming, and North Dakota State. A proven program builder, he has compiled a 225-185-60 career record while leading multiple programs to conference championships and postseason success.
"Pete has built and sustained successful programs at every stop throughout his career, and his ability to develop student-athletes and elevate programs competitively made him the right choice to lead our women's soccer program," said Miller. "This was a highly sought-after position that attracted a deep and talented pool of candidates. Krista Gray did an outstanding job leading this search for our department, and throughout the process, Pete consistently separated himself. We're excited to welcome Pete and his family to Coastal Carolina."
Cuadrado most recently served as the head coach at Tarleton State, where he launched the Texans' women's soccer program from the ground up in 2022. In just four seasons, he guided the program to 26 wins and 15 ties, the most by any new Division I program in that span. Tarleton posted a 9-8-3 record in 2024 and earned a berth in the WAC Tournament, and followed with a 7-7-6 mark in 2025. His teams also excelled in the classroom, posting a 3.7 team GPA.
"I am incredibly honored to join Coastal Carolina and lead the women's soccer program," said Cuadrado. "This is a special place with a strong commitment to excellence, and I'm excited to get to work building a program that competes at a high level and makes the Chanticleer community proud."
Prior to Tarleton State, Cuadrado spent 10 seasons as the head coach at Wyoming, where he became the winningest coach in program history with 75 victories. He led the Cowgirls to the program's first Mountain West Conference regular-season championship in 2018 and recorded four 10-win seasons during his tenure, including three consecutive seasons with double-digit wins from 2014–16.
Cuadrado previously served as the head coach at North Dakota State from 2003–12, where he guided the Bison to two regular-season conference championships and one conference tournament title. He also led the program to an NCAA Tournament appearance in 2010, earning a 1-1 draw against No. 6 Texas A&M in the opening round.
Cuadrado earned his master's degree in athletic administration from Valparaiso and his bachelor's degree in marketing from TCU. He is married to Dr. Babette Cuadrado, who earned her doctorate in adult and higher education from the University of South Dakota. The couple has one daughter, Kami.
