MONTGOMERY, ALA. — Second-seeded Coastal Carolina begints is quest for a second straight Sun Belt Conference tournament title Wednesday, facing seventh-seeded Louisiana in the 2026 Sun Belt Conference Baseball Championship presented by Troy University in Montgomery, Ala. Coastal dropped two of three on the road at Louisiana to close out the regular season. The Chants are 1-2 all-time against the Ragin' Cajuns in the SBC Championship with all three games played during the 2023 tournament. All SBC tournament games air on ESPN+ and fans can listen via the Chanticleer Sports Network or Chanticleer Mobile App.
STREAKS, STORYLINES, SIDEBARS
BACK TO MONTGOMERY: Coastal will be playing in its ninth Sun Belt Conference Championship Tournament this week, having won the postseason championship event in 2018, 2019 and 2025.
IN THE POLLS: Coastal sits at No. 24 in the NCAA RPI and played one of the five toughest non-conference schedules. The Chants are ranked in four of the five prominent polls, ranking as high as No. 22 in NCBWA and Perfect Game.
ALL-SUN BELT: Pitcher Darin Horn was named First Team All-Sun Belt, Rex Watson was voted second team while Case Bosch and Jackson Smallets were named at the all-freshman team.
OUCH: The Chants lead the Sun Belt Conference and rank third in the NCAA with 130 hit by pitches. Walker Mitchell and Blagen Pado have each been hit 19 times to lead the way individually for the Chants.
YOUTHFUL ARMS: CCU freshmen and sophomores combined to throw 282 of 474 innings this season. The freshman five-some of Case Bosch, Kellen Karr, Daniel Parker, Colby Richardson and Jackson Smallets combined for 145 innings while the sophomore trio of Jaxon Appelman, Scott Doran and Luke Jones combined for 137 innings.
PACKING SPRINGS BROOKS: The Chanticleers welcomed a program-record 112,526 fans to Springs Brooks Stadium during the regular season, surpassing the previous mark of 84,438 set during the 2024 campaign. CCU also averaged 3,880 fans per home game this season, marking the first time in program history that Coastal averaged more than 3,000 fans per game during the regular season.
