Trio Leads Men's Golf To Fifth-Place Finish At Highlands Invitational

WESTCHESTER, Ill. – Coastal Carolina men's golf shot a 2-over-par 290 in Tuesday's final round to finish tied for fifth at the Highlands Invitational presented by Turtleson at Chicago Highlands Golf Club.
The Chanticleers finished the 54-hole event at 10-over 874 (283-301-290), tying Maryland in the 12-team field. Coastal entered the final round tied for fourth.
Jack Lee and Lucas Arntsen led the Chanticleers, tying for 15th at 2-over 218. Lee carded a 1-under 71 in the final round, while Arntsen finished with an even-par 72.
Drew Sykes also tied for 15th at 2-over 218 after a final-round 74. Sykes opened the tournament with a 4-under 68 and was Coastal's leader after Monday's opening 36 holes.
Harrison James turned in a 1-over 73 Tuesday and finished tied for 62nd at 14-over 230, while Waymon Thomas rounded out the Coastal lineup with a 5-over 77 to finish tied for 44th at 6-over 222.
Competing as an individual, Santiago Schele shot a 4-over 76 in the final round and tied for 48th at 9-over 225.
East Tennessee State won the team championship at 21-under, finishing 11 strokes ahead of runner-up Wake Forest. Eastern Michigan placed third at 3-under, while Toledo finished fourth at 7-over.
ETSU's Erik Tjarnberg captured medalist honors at 14-under after closing with a 7-under round Tuesday. Wake Forest's Jorge Hao finished second at 11-under.
The Chanticleers return to the links on Monday, Sept. 28, at the Bryan Bros Collegiate in West Columbia, S.C.
