Specifically, in the final weekend series versus Appalachian State, he closed the season by going 2-for-6, hitting an RBI single in the opener and a two-run home run in the finale ... In that regular season finale, he laid down sac bunts (third and fifth innings) with Josh Crump coming around to score both times ... Then, in the seventh inning and CCU up 2-1, he hit a two-run home run which proved to be the difference ... 2016 (Sophomore): Played in 59 games, starting 46 as the primary catcher for the season ... Helped CCU rank fourth in the NCAA in sacrifice bunts as he laid down 12 sac bunts and the runner he advanced scored 11 times with the lone exception coming in the loss to TCU in CCU's game two of the College World Series ... Only batted .208 for the season but his defensive role was unmeasurable ... In fact, when CCU pitching coach Drew Thomas had to miss the South Carolina game, Beaird called the complete game in a 4-2 loss ... Only made three errors and went gone error-free in his final 35 games ... Threw out 12 base stealers and teams only attempted to steal 32 times with Beaird behind the plate ... Reached base 33.3 percent of the time (9-of-27 opportunities) when leading off an inning and eight of his 18 RBIs came with two outs ... Was called on to sac bunt versus Marshall, but ended up getting a bunt single and scored to help CCU's rally in the win ... 2015 (Freshman): Played in 22 games with seven starts, including the 2015 Big South Championship game and all three CCU games at the NCAA College Station Regional ...
