Kevin Cristello came to Coastal Carolina in 2018 as the director of football administration and recruiting before being promoted to the football chief of staff and director of football operations in July 2019. In his role, he works closely in the day-to-day activities associated with football operations, such as scheduling, travel, and facilities as well as working side-by-side with the coaching and support staff members.
Cristello came to Coastal after one season at Nebraska, where he worked in a lead role in the Huskers’ team travel and served as a liaison to several areas within the Nebraska athletics department.
Prior to his time at Nebraska, Cristello was the director of football operations at Eastern Kentucky. Among his many responsibilities in his six years with the Colonels from 2011-16, Cristello was responsible for travel arrangements for the football team, the coordination of summer camp activities, and assisting with the day-to-day operations of the program.
Cristello also has coaching experience in his background. Before entering the administration side, he spent three years from 2008-10 at Kentucky Christian. In his first two seasons (2008-09), he was the defensive line coach, academic coordinator and video coordinator. In 2010, he was elevated to interim head coach.
He began his coaching career at his alma mater Morehead State as a student assistant in 2006 and served as a graduate assistant coach in 2006 and 2007, working mostly with the defensive backs.
Cristello played defensive end at Morehead State from 2001-05, twice leading the team in sacks. He was a team captain and earned All-Pioneer League honors. He received his bachelor’s degree in health promotions in 2006 and a master’s in adult and higher education from Morehead State.
He is married to the former Erin Peak who was an all-conference volleyball player at Morehead State. The couple has two sons, Kameron and Chandler.
