Biography

Sophomore middle blocker Jelena Mirkovic, a native of Belgrade, Yugoslavia, had a break-through season in 1998. Mirkovic, a member of the 1998 Big South All-Conference Second Team, led Coastal Carolina with 93 total blocks and ranked third on the squad with 330 kills. She has also recorded 262 digs and 39 service aces. She twice recorded a career-high 22 kills in a match, including an important victory over UNC Asheville to clinch the number three seed for the Big South Conference Tournament in the final game of the regular season. After her outstanding sophomore season, Jelena ranks 10th in career kills at Coastal Carolina with 544, 10th in total attacks with 1,431, 10th in service aces with 84, seventh in block assists with 96, and 10th in total blocks with 113.
