Men's Soccer Falls To UNCA, 3-1

ASHEVILLE, N.C. — Greg Garrison scored twice in the second half as UNC Asheville downed Coastal Carolina, 3-1 in Big South Conference men's soccer action at Greenwood Field Saturday afternoon.
The win kept the Bulldogs (2-0 Big South, 6-5 Overall) perfect in the Big South Conference and was their fourth win in the last five games. The loss by the Chanticleers (2-1-1 Big South, 4-5-1 Overall) ended a five-game unbeaten streak.
The match was tied 1-1 at the half before Garrison took over. He scored an unassisted goal at the 49:22 mark of the second half to give UNC Asheville the lead for good, 2-1.
Garrison applied the clincher at the 74:20 mark when he took a pass from Nick Sands and booted the ball into the goal from 10 yards out to push the Asheville lead to 3-1.
"What a great win for our lads today against a topnotch team in Coastal Carolina," stated Bulldog coach Steve Cornish. "We did a great job finishing when we had the opportunities to score, and Greg Garrison was simply outstanding in the second half. He scored two beautiful goals. This was a good result for us to get against a well-coached Coastal Carolina club."
UNCA opened the scoring at the 17:07 mark when Mike Kachan scored for the fourth straight game. He took a pass from Mike Roach and put the ball in the back of the net.
Coastal Carolina countered when Johnny Ji scored to tie the game at 1-1 at the 23:21 mark.
