Men's Soccer Number One in Preseason Poll

 

CONWAY, S.C.- After advancing to the second round of the NCAA Championship in 2002, the Coastal Carolina University men's soccer team was unanimously picked as number one in the 2003 Big South preseason poll.

The Chanticleers, who went 19-3-2 last season, received all 16 first place votes and 128 points overall. The poll was determined by the votes of the League’s coaches and sports information directors.

Winthrop, the 2002 Big South champion, received 111 points and is slated at second place, followed by Liberty at third with 93 points. Rounding out the list is Radford (63), UNC Asheville (61), Birmingham-Southern (53), Virginia Military Institute (34) and High Point (33).

The Coastal Carolina men’s soccer team begins regular season play on August 30 when it takes on UNC Greensboro at home at 7 p.m.
