CONWAY, S.C. – Coastal Carolina men's soccer concluded its 2025 campaign with a 3-9-2 overall record and a 2-6-1 mark in Sun Belt Conference play. Despite a challenging season, the Chanticleers achieved notable milestones and showcased the emergence of key players under the guidance of interim head coach Chris Fidler, who stepped in following the retirement of long-time head coach Shaun Docking.
The Chanticleers opened the season on a high note with a 3-0 shutout over Winthrop on August 21 and faced a challenging slate that included five nationally ranked opponents. Coastal Carolina ultimately finished eighth in the Sun Belt standings but earned a berth in the conference tournament for the first time since 2022. In the tournament's first round, the Chanticleers battled No. 18 Kentucky to a scoreless draw before narrowly falling 6-5 in penalty kicks.
The team ended a difficult stretch by snapping an eight-match losing streak with back-to-back conference wins over Georgia State (Oct. 22) and South Carolina (Oct. 26), showing resilience down the stretch.
Individually, senior midfielder
Loed Klaasen led the team with 15 points, recording four goals and seven assists. Klaasen's 0.5 assists per match ranked tied for 16th nationally, and his outstanding play earned him All-Sun Belt First Team and United Soccer Coaches All-Region First Team honors. Klaasen mark the first Chanticleer to achieve USC All-Region first-team accolades since Frantzdy Pierrot in 2017.
Freshman
Angel Lopez made an immediate impact as well, tallying 13 points on five goals and three assists and earning a spot on the All-Sun Belt Freshman Team.
