Box Score Women's Soccer Wins at Elon CONWAY, S.C. – Coastal Carolina got a pair of second-half goals from
Roberta Parsons and Mary Jo Hajek to earn a 2-0 win over Elon Tuesday, moving their record to 2-1 on the season and recording the program’s first victory in five tries over the Phoenix.
Parson’s goal, the first of the game and her second of the season, was an unassisted effort in the 55th minute of play. Hajek scored 14 minutes later, also unassisted, off a loose ball in the box. The Lady Chants outshot the Phoenix, 21-12, and doubled Elon’s shots on goal with 12.
Senior goalkeeper Candice Doten, who was named Defensive MVP of the LSU Tournament in which Coastal participated, tallied six saves in 90 minutes of play and captured the shutout, while Elon keeper Kara Zagol grabbed eight of her own. The Phoenix drop to 0-2 with the loss.
Next up for the Lady Chants is their first home game of the 2003 season, Friday at 7:30 p.m. versus Anderson at Coastal Carolina Soccer Field.
