The Coastal Carolina University volleyball team (4-3) played a very difficult opponent on Tuesday evening as they visted College of Charleston (5-3) and were defeated in three games 30-23, 30-16, 30-26.

Coastal gave it a good effort, but unfortunately they were playing a good team in College of Charleston that arrived sporting a four game winning streak and were coming off a weekend where they won the Panther Invitational, hosted by the Milwaukee-Wisconsin, where they didn’t lose a match the entire weekend.

Coastal was led in defeat by sophomore Laura Obert (Cincinnati, Ohio/Mother Mercy) who had 10 kills and a hitting percentage of .500. Junior Katherine Jensen (Vancouver, B.C./Sentinel Secondary (Ole Miss)recorded 10 kills and tallied 11 assists. Junior Jennifer Hampton (Lake Forest, Calif./El Toro) recorded a team-high 27 assists and 14 digs.

For the game the Chants hit .140 on 35 kills with 19 errors. The Lady Chanticleers were also outblocked by the Cougars 7-4.

CCU will be returning home to host the Microtel Inn and Suites Chanticleer Classic starting on Friday afternoon at 4:30 p.m with a contest between North Carolina State and Long Island. The first Coastal game will begin at 7 p.m. as they take on Tennessee-Chattanooga.
