Men's Golf Finishes As Runner-Up at Landfall Tradition

WILMINGTON, N.C. -- The Coastal Carolina men's golf team finished second at the Landfall Tradition, Oct. 28-30. The 54-hole tournament, hosted by UNC Wilmington, was played at the Country Club of Landfall’s Nicklaus Course in Wilmington, N.C.
The Chanticleers trailed second-round leader Texas A&M by three shots entering the final round. However, the Aggies fired a tournament best seven-under 281 to shoot 870 for the three rounds and win by 10 shots over Coastal, who shot even-par 288 in the final round to finish at 880. There was a four-way tie for third, as Tulsa, Minnesota, Illinois, and VCU all finished at 889.
Junior Dustin Johnson took home medalist honors after firing a six-under 66 in the final round to finish at five-under 211 for the 54-hole event. Jerad Harklau of Texas A&M, who was the second round leader, finished as the runner-up, two shots behind Johnson. CCU had three other players in the top 20, as senior Moises Cobo was 14th at 221, while sophomores Joachim Fourquet and Zack Byrd tied for 19th at 224.
The Chants are next in action at the Hooters Match Play Championship, Wed.-Sat., Nov. 9-12. This invitational-only event will be played at the Mission Hills Golf Club in Howey in the Hills, Fla.
