CONWAY, S.C. – The 18
th-ranked Coastal Carolina University baseball team (18-4) kept the hot bats going, belting out 16 hits in a 17-4 win over Albany (4-14-1) March 23 at Watson Stadium/Vrooman Field. Coastal scored 14 runs in the first four innings of the game. Junior
Dock Doyle (Conway, S.C./Conway), who was put in the starting lineup just minutes before the game, singled home sophomore
Adam Rice (Murphy, Texas/Elgin C.C.) to get Coastal on the board in the first. Coastal made it 2-0 in the first as freshman
Scott Woodward (Markle, Ind./Norwell) drove in Doyle on an error by Ralph Rizzo. Junior
David Sappelt (Saxapahaw, N.C./Southern Alamace) drove in two in the second with a double down the left field line. Junior
David Anderson (Lexington, S.C./White Knoll) brought in Sappelt on a sacrifice bunt, making it 5-0 Coastal. The Chanticleers hit three home runs in the third as Sappelt, Anderson and Doyle went deep, making it 10-0 Coastal. Doyle would hit his second home run of the day and seventh of the season in the fourth, highlighting a four-run inning. Coastal scored three runs in the seventh as freshman

Chance Gilmore (Surfside Beach, S.C./Virginia) with his first single as a Chant. Albany would score three in the ninth on run-scoring singles from Jamie Liebowitz, Dave West and Ryan Gugel. Doyle and Sappelt had five RBI on the day. That duo was joined by Rice in having three hits on the day. Gilmore would score four runs while the Chants have scored 35 in the last two games. Sophomore
Dan Lombardozzi (Herndon, Va./Herndon) picked up the win, his first in a CCU uniform, as he struck out six and allowed just two hits and one run in five innings. Sophomore

He gave up nine runs and seven hits in 2.1 innings. Coastal will travel to Charleston, S.C., and Riley Park as the Chants face The Citadel Tuesday, March 25 at 6 p.m.
