Softball Swept by No. 15 North Carolina More Information:        
CHAPEL HILL, N.C. -- The Coastal Carolina University softball team lost both of its games to 15th-ranked North Carolina Wednesday, April 16 at Williams Field at Anderson Stadium in Chapel Hill, N.C. The Lady Chanticleers (18-30) fell 3-0 and then dropped the second 8-0 in five innings.
In Game One, all three of North Carolina's (42-8-1) runs came as Jennifer Jacobs hit a two-out, three run home run to center field that also scored Christine Knauer and Cassie Palmer.
Lisa Norris pitched all seven games en route to picking up the win. Norris struck out 12 and allowed just three hits. Freshman Ashley Pedersen (Fayetteville, Ga./Whitewater) allowed seven hits in six innings as she received the loss. All three of North Carolina's runs were unearned.
In the second game, North Carolina tallied five runs during the third and then added three in the fourth. During the third, North Carolina scored off back-to-back RBI doubles from Breanna Brown and Palmer, an RBI single up the middle by Emily Troup, a bases loaded walk and a passed ball. Meanwhile, in the fourth, Palmer had a two-run double to right center to put North Carolina up 7-0 and then she eventually scored off a passed ball to give the Tar Heels the eight-run advantage.
Amber Johnson received the win after pitching four innings and allowing two hits. Freshman Michelle Evans (Upland, Calif./Upland) had the loss after giving up five runs - four earned - off five hits in 2.2 innings.
The Lady Chants return to action with a three-game Big South series at league leader Winthrop. The series begins with a doubleheader at Terry Field Saturday, April 19 at 1 p.m.
