CHARLESTON, S.C. (AP) - Desmond Holloway scored 18 points and Coastal Carolina used a second-half run to pull away from USC Upstate 71-50 at the Charleston Classic on Friday.

USC Upstate had cut a 15-point lead down to 44-40 with just under 12 minutes left. That's when Holloway and the Chanticleers (3-2) took control with an 18-2 run.

Holloway made the first three baskets during the charge as Coastal Carolina moved in front 62-42. Holloway scored 14 of his 18 points in the second half.

Kierre Greenwood had 12 points and Willie Kirkland and Anthony Raffa had 10 each for the Chanticleers, who will play Sunday for fifth place in the eight-team tournament.

Sam McLaurin blocked a game-high four shots and upped his career total to 66 to move into a tie with former Chanticleer great William Calvin for seventh all-time at Coastal. The Havana, Fla., native needs just two more rejections to pass Jeff Roberts, who played for Coastal from 1981-83, and move into sixth place.

Torrey Craig had 17 points on five 3-pointers to lead the Spartans (0-4), who moved into the seventh-place game.

Coastal will face the winner of the Charlotte-East Carolina game Sunday at 2 p.m. from Carolina First Arena.
