Complete Results/Stats for The Invitational

KIAWAH ISLAND - The Coastal Carolina men's golf team continued its improvement, jumping one spot to finish fourth at The Invitational at Kiawah Ocean Course, hosted by College of Charleston.

The Chanticleers, playing their inaugural event of 2010-11, fired the third-lowest score of the day (291) to finish with a 54-hole score of 884 (299-294-291). North Carolina State, who tied with UAB for team low score on Tuesday with a 288, won the two-day event with a team score of 872, followed by 36-hole leader Notre Dame (295) and host College of Charleston (880).

Coastal Carolina was led by Sebastian Soderberg, who shot a two-under 70 to tie for second place with a one-over par score of 217 (74-73-70) - three stroke off the medalist score of 214 by College of Charleston's John Duke Hudson. Soderberg, who started his round on hole number six, was one over par after eight holes before getting back to even with his first birdie on the 454-yard, par four 18th. He followed that with birdies on holes 1 and 2 - birdying #2 all three rounds, to finis two under for the day.

The second-best round of the day came from freshman Conner Pratt, who helped his team with an even-par 72 on day three thanks to the unique scoring format. While he finished 62nd overall, his score figured prominently in the team's top four finish. Pratt struggled on Monday with rounds of 79 and 88, playing the difficult 221-yard par 3 at seven over par in rounds one and two. However, Pratt birdied the hole on Tuesday. He was two-over with six holes to play, but reeled off three birdies to get to one under before a bogey on his 54th and final hole.

Steve Delmar carded a two-over 74, finished tied for 27th with a 54-hole score of 227 (79-74-74). Also tying for 27th was Drew Ernst, who posted a 79 in round three. Tripp McAllister also shot 75 on Tuesday and finished with a 229 (79-75-75). Charlie Winegardner placed 20th after shooting one-over in the first two rounds. However, the senior shot 81 on Tuesday and was 10 over for the tournament with a 54-hole score of 226.

Coastal Carolina will return to action Sept. 26-27 at the Windon Memorial Classic, played at North Shore country Club in the Chicago area.
