CHARLOTTE, N.C. - Coastal Carolina junior Danny Heidecker was selected as the Big South Conference Choice Hotels Men's Tennis Player of the Week the conference announced Tuesday.

Heidecker posted a 4-0 individual record in the Chanticleers' 5-2 wins over The Citadel and Charlotte in the opening weekend of the spring season. On Saturday against The Citadel, Heidecker won 6-2, 7-6 in the No. 1 position and turned in an 8-1 win in No. 2 doubles with partner Alex Funkhouser.

He continued his impressive showing on Sunday as he won 6-3, 6-4, in No. 1 singles and 8-5 at No. 2 doubles vs. Charlotte.

"This is a nice way for Danny to start his career at Coastal Carolina," Chanticleer head coach Chris Powers said. "However, I know he feels his best tennis is ahead of him, and I look forward to helping him reach his goals this spring. More importantly, he will be one of the many pieces to the puzzle we need to reach our team goal this spring."

Heidecker and Coastal Carolina return to the court Saturday at 11 a.m. with a match against Mount Olive at the Billy Nichols Tennis Center.
