HIGH POINT, N.C. - MAC Hermann Trophy Watch List member and Preseason All-American Pedro Ribeiro scored a golden goal in the 104th minute of play to give 12th-ranked Coastal Carolina a 2-1 win over High Point on Saturday evening.

Ribeiro scored his sixth goal of the season with 6:18 remaining in the second overtime on a free kick from 35 yards out. The Brazilian launched his scoring blast over a wall of High Point defenders and into the left upper 90 out of the reach of the High Point goalkeeper.

The win is Coastal's sixth straight and improves the Chanticleers to 7-2-0 overall and a perfect 3-0-0 in conference play. High Point falls to 3-6-1 (1-1-1 Big South) on the season. Moreover, the Chants push their Big South regular season win streak to 22 games -- the longest in the nation after the University of Akron suffered its first conference defeat since 2006 on Saturday.

¬Sergio Camargo broke the scoreless tie in the 52nd minute as he slotted home his fourth goal of the season. Jakub Stourac dribbled to the touch line on the right side of the box and back-heeled a cross toward the center of the goal box where Camargo, who made a great run through the middle of the field, found the ball and easily knocked his shot past High Point's Ryan Massey.

Moments after the goal the Chants nearly added another, but Ribeiro's final shot after a series of blocked shots sailed just high of the cross bar.

In the 65th minute Kai Morton nearly found his second goal of the season on a header following a Justin Portillo corner kick. Morton headed Portillo's corner off a defender. The ball then deflected off the crossbar and back into play allowing a High Point defender to clear it away.

High Point netted the equalizer in the 75th minute off the foot of Erien Campbell, who was on the receiving end of a cross by Matt Gweh. The goal was the first surrendered by the Chanticleers in Big South play this season and the first goal allowed by CCU's Devin Cook in 364:41 of action.

The first overtime was a session of counter attacks with both teams finding room, but not shots, in their offensive thirds.

The first half featured the Chanticleers controlling the bulk of possession as they built through the middle in search of the game's first goal. However, Coastal's efforts would not come to fruition as the Panthers' backline and keeper stood strong and turned away the Chants each time. The Chanticleers' Jakub Stourac had the best chance of the half to break the scoreless tie as he put a right-footed blast on goal. Coastal closed the half with a 7-4 edge in shots and a 2-0 margin in corner kicks.

Coastal finished the game with a 23-14 advantage in the shot column and an impressive 7-0 margin in corner opportunities. Cook earned the victory with a four-save performance, improving to 6-2-0 on the season. The Panthers' Massey (1-4-1) suffered the defeat despite recording nine saves.

Coastal Carolina has a short turnaround as it continues its current road stand on Tuesday at College of Charleston. The Chants and Cougars are slated for a 7 p.m. kickoff at the Patriots Point Soccer Stadium in Mt. Pleasant, S.C. Coastal holds a 14-9-4 all-time series lead against its Lowcountry rivals, including wins in each of the sides' last two meetings.
