CONWAY - Ricky Garbanzo made sure his senior day would be a memorable one as he tallied a first-half hat trick to spark Coastal Carolina to a 7-0 rout of Longwood in both teams' regular season finale Saturday afternoon.

The victory moved Coastal to 12-5-1 on the season and 7-1-1 in conference play. The Chanticleers will be the two seed in the forthcoming Big South Tournament and will host the Lancers, who earned the tournament's seventh seed, again Tuesday at 6 p.m. at the CCU Soccer Stadium. The semifinals and championship will be held Nov. 14 and 16 at Bryan Park in Greensboro, N.C.

The loss dropped Longwood to 3-13-1 overall and 3-6-0 in the Big South.

In addition to Garbanzo's hat trick, Coastal also counted goals by Tommy Gudmundsson, Kevin Le Bras, Louis Dargent and Bryce Follensbee. Also tallying multiple points on the day was senior defender Ridge Robinson, who finished the contest with three assists.

Garbanzo started his goal outburst with a penalty kick in the 11th minute, giving Coastal the early 1-0 lead. In the 25th minute the Rock Hill, S.C., native converted a highlight reel worthy goal following a rebound from a Robinson shot. Garbanzo collected the loose ball with his back to the goal. He then flicked the ball into the air and connected on a bicycle kick for the second goal. Garbanzo's final goal came in the 42nd minute as his in-swinging corner kick found the back corner of the net.

The hat trick was Garbanzo's first since scoring thrice at South Carolina on Oct. 24, 2012. The three goals move his season tally to seven and his career total to 39, tying him with former All-American Ashton Bennett for sixth on the CCU all-time list.

The Chanticleers counted four additional goal in the second half of play - each of which came in the final 17 minutes of regulation. Gudmundsson netted his goal by way of a header following an Elis Bjornsson cross into the box at the 73:17 mark of play, pushing the Chants lead to 4-0. Le Bras made the score 5-0 in the 85th minute with a right-footed strike from 20-yards out. Dargent counted Coastal's sixth goal on a tap in after a Robinson cross from the left side beat the Longwood keeper. Follensbee capped the scoring in the 89th minute with a shot to the far post after a well-played through ball by Agust Arnarson.

The Chanticleers concluded the game with a 28-6 shot and 12-4 corner advantage. Coastal's Mark Petrus and Devin Cook-Perales split the shutout after splitting time in goal.

Prior to the contest, the Chanticleers recognized seniors Ricky Garbanzo, Ollivier Gueguen, Kevin Le Bras, Michael Millay, Shawn McLaws, Pierre Morin, Joel Perez, Mark Petrus, Ridge Robinson, Jordan Tyler and Uchenna Uzo for their accomplishments and contributions to the Coastal Carolina men's soccer program.
