CONWAY - Bryce Follensbee and Sergio Camargo scored for 24th-ranked Coastal Carolina 12 seconds apart in the first half to provide the Chanticleers all the cushion they would need to defeat Elon by a 3-1 score Friday evening at the CCU Soccer Stadium.

The 12 seconds between Coastal Carolina (5-3-0, 1-0-0 Big South) scoring strikes ties for the fourth fastest in NCAA Division I history.

The 21st minute of play proved to be one of the most hectic and exciting minutes in recent Chanticleer soccer memory. Gisli Helgason started the action with a long throw from the left sideline into the 18-yard box. Follensbee, who was inserted into the match seconds before the throw-in, elevated above the Elon defense and headed the ball into the far right side netting. The goal, Follensbee's third of the season, was scored at the 20:11 mark of play.

Twelve second later (20:23) Sergio Camargo scored his second goal of the season after intercepting a square pass between Phoenix defensemen. The Colombian dribbled into the 18-yard box and uncorked a blast past Elon's Nathan Dean.

Elon (3-3-2, 0-0-0 CAA) immediate got a goal back with James Brace's penalty kick at the 20:45 mark following a Coastal foul inside the 18-yard box.

Chanticleer freshman Louis Dargent provided Coastal with an insurance goal in the 30th minute. The Frenchman gathered a failed Elon clearance inside the penalty area, beat his defender to the inside then snuck a shot between the near post and the Phoenix keeper. The goal was Dargent's third of the season and second in the Chants' past four outings.

The second half of play was much calmer with Coastal commanding the pace of play. The Chants attempted nine shot during the second stanza, compared to just two from the Phoenix.

Devin Cook-Perales recorded a pair of saves and the win for the Chants, moving his record to 4-3-0 on the season and career record to 22-8-0. Ricky Garbanzo and Camargo co-led the Chanticleer attack with four shots, including two on goal each.

Coastal returns to the pitch Tuesday for a regional showdown against Atlantic Coast Conference foe NC State. Kickoff at the Wolfpack's Dial Soccer Field is slated for a 7 p.m. kickoff. NC State leads the all-time series against the Chants by a 3-0 count. The sides last met in 2010 with the Wolfpack claiming a 3-1 win.
