CONWAY - The Coastal Carolina men's tennis team won its straight match by a 6-1 margin on Saturday, defeating the visiting Wofford Terriers at the Coastal Carolina Tennis Complex. With the win, the Chanticleers (5-2) remain undefeated on their home courts.

Coastal started the day taking two of three doubles matches to jump ahead of the Terriers, 1-0.

Haris Poric and Rob Galloway teamed up to down Philippe Tsangarides and Kaue Pereira on the first court, but the Chants stormed back on two and three to clinch the point. Renana Samed and Garik Yedigarian outlasted the Wofford pair of Walker Heffron and Parks Thompson at No. 2, and Vuk Velickovic and Rick Timmerman edged David Sklar and Trevor Gotkowski in a 7-6 tiebreaker.

The Chants then continued to press as play turned to singles, winning five of the remaining six points.

Yedigarian, Velickovic, Timmerman and Jabor Al-Mutawa swept courts 3-6 in straight sets, while Tsangarides battled Galloway to a three-set win on the first court.

Poric recorded Wofford's only point of the day with a 7-5, 6-1 win over Pereira at No. 2.

"We played like contenders today," said Chanticleer coach Chris Powers. "We still have work to do, but I think we took a step forward as a program today and got a very solid win."

Coastal remains at home for its next two matches, beginning with a 1 p.m. tilt against Richmond on Friday.
