Wilmington, N.C. - The Coastal Carolina men's tennis team fell behind early and was unable to rally, ultimately falling 5-2 at #55 UNC Wilmington Tuesday afternoon.

The Seahawks (5-1) were the third ranked opponent that the Chanticleers (3-2) have faced early in the 2015 season.

UNCW took an early 1-0 lead in the match after coming from behind to claim the doubles point.

The Chanticleer duo of Vuk Velickovic and Rick Timmerman struck first, downing Xander Veys and Taylor Cramer 6-2 on the third doubles court. UNCW responded with 6-2 win at No. 2 as Renan Samed and Garik Yedigarian fell to Zach Hublitz and Andres Torres. Santtu Leskinen and C. Van der Burgh clinched the point for the Seahawks at No. 1, topping Kaue Pereira and Philippe Tsangarides in a close 7-6 (7-1) match.

UNCW jumped out to 2-0 lead as play turned to singles, picking up a point on the second court where Leskinen bested Pereira 6-2, 6-1.

Jabor Al-Mutawa put the Chants on the board with a 6-1, 6-1 victory over Cramer at No. 6, but UNCW's Torres and Veys recorded back-to-back wins at No. 5 and 3, respectively, to seal the match.

Tsangarides gave Coastal its second point of the match on the first singles court, capping the day with a 6-1, 4-6, 1-0 (10-7) win over Van der Burgh.

The Chanticleers have over a week off before returning to the court to host Francis Marion for a 2 p.m. match on Feb. 13 at the Coastal Carolina Tennis Complex.
