March 24, 2015 Charlotte, N.C. - Sara Bondar of the Coastal Carolina women's tennis team has been named The Crons Brand Big South Freshman of the Week for matches played March 16-22, the conference announced today. It is the second straight week that the Chanticleer freshman has been awarded the conference's weekly honor.
Bondar (Szeghalom, Hungary) went 2-0 in Big South play against UNC Asheville at No. 4 singles and No. 2 doubles. Bondar paired with Honami Yazawa on the second court for an 8-5 victory before taking a 6-1, 6-2 singles triumph.
Bondar has been an integral part of Coastal's current nine-match winning streak that dates back to Feb. 21. During that stretch, she has recorded eight singles and seven doubles victories. Through 14 matches this season, Bondar is 10-4 in singles and has gone 3-1 against conference opponents. On the doubles court, the Coastal freshman has posted an 8-6, 3-1 mark.
Next up for Bondar and the Chanticleers is a 1 p.m. tilt at Liberty on Saturday. The Chanticleers hold a perfect 4-0 record against Big South opponents this season.
NOTE: Coastal's match at Presbyterian, which was postponed on March 22, has been rescheduled for April 11 at 10 a.m. in Clinton, S.C.
