CONWAY - Playing its first of three home matches to close out the regular season, the Coastal Carolina men's tennis team downed the visiting Campbell Fighting Camels 6-1 on Friday afternoon at the Coastal Carolina Tennis Complex.

The win boosts the Chanticleers' overall record to 10-5, and, with a Winthrop loss to Presbyterian on Friday, puts Coastal in sole possession of first place in the Big South with a 5-1 conference record. Campbell, meanwhile, drops to 12-9, 5-3.

The Chants' took care of business in doubles, sweeping the three courts to jump out to a 1-0 lead.

Philippe Tsanagarides and Kaue Pereira teamed up to take down Lukas Schaefer and Jonathan O'Neal by an 8-4 margin on the first court. Renan Samed and Pedro Leme put away the No. 2 match 8-5 over the Campbell duo of Steven Billington and Nicolas Rakitin. Vuk Velickovic and Garik Yedigarian wrapped up their No. 3 match with an 8-3 score against Lorenz Schwab and Adrien Rossignon.

Coastal's dominance continued in singles where five Chants earned points in straight sets.

Tsangarides picked up his seventh win of the season at No. 1, while Pereira extended his conference singles record to 5-1 by defeating Schaefer.

Velickovic downed Rakitin a No. 3 to match Pereira's Big South singles record, and Yedigarian outlasted Rossignon at No. 4.

Samed was Coastal's final singles winner on the sixth court with a 6-4, 6-0 decision over Krone.

The Chants will look to defend their first-place standing on Sunday when they host Winthrop for a 1 p.m. match at the Coastal Carolina Tennis Complex.
