Los Angeles - Coastal Carolina men's soccer team made a cross-country trip to face UCLA, but came out on the short end of a 3-1 match.
The Bruins (8-6-1) scored in the 13th minute on a Felix Vobejda goal which as assisted by Jackson Yueill.
The 1-nill lead held up for 20 minutes when CCU's (6-6-3) Martin Melchor scored an unassisted goal in the 32nd minute and that 1-1 score held up until halftime.
In the second 45 minutes the two teams battled back-and-forth for the first 15 minutes until Seyi Adekoya picked up a shot that careened off the cross bar and put the rebound in the net for a Bruin 2-1 lead. It would be enough for the victory, but the Bruins added one more goal in the 90th minute on a late goal from Jose Hernandez.
The Bruins out shot CCU 18-9 with shots on goal at 7-4. CCU goal keeper Braulio Linares-Ortiz came up with four saves in the match.
The Chanticleers will end the 2016 regular season with a home match against Georgia State Saturday Nov. 5. The match is scheduled to begin at 7 p.m.
