Soccer Falls at Wake Forest in NCAA 2nd Round

Winston-Salem, N.C. - Coastal Carolina University men's soccer team fell 2-0 in the second round of the NCAA Tournament at Wake Forest.

The Deacons (16-2-3) entered the tournament as the second ranked team in the nation and the Chanticleers (10-7-3) stayed right with them through the afternoon.

Wake Forest scored in the 21st minute of action on Luis Argudo's unassisted goal.

The scored stayed that way as both teams battled back-and-forth for the next 42 minutes before Wake was able to break through with a Jacori Hayes goal on an assist from Ema Twumasi.

Both teams had several chances as the host Deacons had 16 shots and CCU countered with 10. Louis Dargent had three shots and Martin Melchor added two.

CCU goalkeeper Braulio Linares-Ortiz was strong in goal again picking up six saves on the day.

It was the sixth consecutive season the Chanticleers made it to the second round of the National Tournament.
