CONWAY - The Coastal Carolina men's tennis team rebounded from Saturday's loss -- its first in five matches -- with a convincing 6-1 win over East Carolina on Sunday afternoon at the Coastal Carolina Tennis Complex.

Coastal (7-2, 1-0) improves to 6-0 on its home court this season.

"Today was our best team performance of the season," said Chanticleer coach Chris Powers. "We really came out and played solid, fundamental doubles and took care of business. I credit this team for continually working to get better."

The Chants sweep the Pirates on the doubles court, with Pedro Leme and Vuk Velickovic (No. 1), and Jabor Al-Mutawa and Sebastian Schneider (No. 2) each taking 6-2 wins.

The No. 3 doubles match went unfinished with Rick Timmerman and Luiz Faria leading 5-4.

Coastal then won all but one of its singles matches, four of which finished in straight sets.

Al-Mutawa topped Tapfuma at No. 1 (6-2, 6-1), Velickovic bested Anghel at No. 2 (7-5, 6-2), Schneider dispatched Lehfeldt at No. 3 (7-6, 6-2) and Migliano downed Georgia at No. 5 (6-2, 7-6).

Nic Planchard rounded out Coastal's scoring on the sixth court with a three-set win over Bissett.

Kasey Countee was ECU's lone point-winner at No. 4.

Coastal remains at home for its next seven matches, beginning with UNC Greensboro on March 10 at 1 p.m.
