2016 General Hackler Championship Day 1 Results 
MYRTLE BEACH - The first day -- second round -- of the 2016 General Hackler Championship, presented by Myrtle Beach Golf Holiday and played at the 7,233-yard par 72 Dunes Golf and Beach Club, was suspended due to darkness.
However, only two groups with two holes remaining was all that kept the 36-hole day one from being completed. The three teams left on the course were #43 North Carolina State, Charlotte and Iowa State. Those two groups will close out their second round Sunday morning and the event will conclude with 18 final holes immediately afterwards.
South Carolina, ranked 19th nationally, owns a three-stroke lead after two rounds, posting a 16-under par 560 (281-279). Virginia, ranked 24th, is second (287-276=563). NC State is currently in third, five strokes behind Virginia but three strokes ahead of fourth-place and 32nd-ranked Texas A&M (283-288=571). The field also includes #32 Texas A&M, #16 North Carolina, #30 North Florida, #49 Charleston Southern and #44 East Carolina.
Host Coastal Carolina is in 13th place in the 15-team field. The Chanticleers shot a 303 in the morning session but rallied to card a 293 in the afternoon for a 36-hole total of 586.
Virginia's Jimmy Stanger leads the individuals, shooting 70-66 for an 8-under par 136.
For Coastal Carolina, junior Alfredo Ruiz shot a 75 in the morning, with four bogeys and a birdie. In the afternoon, he was 2-under through 11 holes, thanks to nine pars and two birdies. He suffered a bogey on the par 3 12th, but finished his round with six pars for a 1-under 71. With his solid second round, Ruiz jumped 15 spots into a tie for 35th with a 36-hole score of 146.
Ryan Carpenter was two strokes off the pace of Ruiz and is tied for 42nd (75-73=148). Carpenter, like Ruiz, had four bogeys and a birdie in the opening round. He then had 12 pars, three birdies, two bogeys and a double bogey in the afternoon for a 1-over 73, which propelled the junior eight spots up the leaderboard.
Thadd Obecny II posted an opening-round 76 but turned in a 1-over 73, thanks to three bogeys and two birdies, in round two to move up seven spots into a tie for 51st with a score of 149.
Luis Ruiz (78-76) and Olle Widegren (77-77) each carded a 36-hole total of 154 to tie for 66th.
Chanticleers playing as individuals include Daniel Overas (77-75=152; 61st-tie), Harrison Frye (78-77=155; 70th=tie) and Josh Pisarri (81-75=156; 75th-tie).
