CONWAY - Thanks to a two-run homerun from Annie Robinson in the third inning, Coastal Carolina defeated Furman, 3-1, in the last day of the Chanticleer Challenge.
Coastal (11-13) will return to action on Tuesday at home as they faceoff with the UConn Huskies at 4:00 p.m.
After five scoreless innings, the Furman Paladins managed to push a run across the plate, breaking the stalemate in the sixth. Elise Smith RBI singled to right field to send Candace Johnson home for the run.
Coastal responded in the bottom of the sixth with three runs for a 3-1 lead over the Paladins. Bri Chiusano (1-for-3) and Taty Forbes (2-for-3) singled. Morgan Noad delivered a sacrifice fly to bring home Chiusano. Then, Annie Robinson hit a two-run home run over the center field fence. This was Robinson's fourth home run of the 2016 season, and 12th of her career.
Kelsey Dominik (6-7) earned the win as she pitched a complete game with six strikeouts while allowing four hits and one run.
