CHARLESTON, S.C. - The Coastal Carolina beach volleyball team recorded the program's first-ever victory on Thursday afternoon in convincing fashion, blanking Jacksonville State, 5-0, in a neutral-site match played at the College of Charleston.
Coastal improves its season record to 1-4 with its shutout of the Gamecocks.
Four of the five courts were decided in straight sets, with the lone exception coming at No. 4 where Annayka Legros and Shelby Ladewig rallied from a first-set loss to down Mandee Eberle and Anna Katherine O'Leary 24-26, 21-19, 15-11.
Natasa Savovic and Alise Petersone picked up their second win as a pairing at No. 1 this season, notching a 21-12, 21-13 victory over Hannah Kirk and Charis Ludtke.
The Coastal duos of Tahleia Bishop and Aleksandara Djuric (No. 2), Carla Cahill and Leah Hardeman (No. 3) and Sara Boothe and Mika Mierzwa (No. 5) each tallied their first wins of the season.
Coastal remains at the College of Charleston to face the Cougars (6-6) on Friday. First serve is set for 4 p.m.
