CHARLESTON, S.C. - The Coastal Carolina beach volleyball team suffered a 4-1 loss to the College of Charleston on Friday afternoon as the Chanticleers ended their two days of competition at the Creekside Swim and Tennis Club, splitting their pair of matches. Coastal (1-5) had previously defeated Jacksonville State on Thursday.
The Chants' lone point came from the No. 2 pairing of Aleksandra Djuric and Tahleia Bishop, as the duo recorded its second consecutive win on their respective court. Djuric and Bishop fell 17-21 in the opening set before evening the match with a 21-19 win in the second. The Coastal duo finished off the match with a 15-10 edge in the third.
Courts one, three and four ended in straight sets in the Cougars' favor. Natasa Savovic and Alise Petersone fell 19-21 in each of their sets at No. 1; Carla Cahill and Leah Hardeman dueled CofC's No. 3 pairing of Mummey/Rhodes to extra points in the first set before falling again in the second; and Sara Boothe and Mika Mierzwa suffered matching 11-21 losses at No. 4.
Shelby Ladewig and Annayka Legros claimed the opening set, 21-18, on the fifth court before falling in the second and third.
The Chants return to action next weekend as they head to UNC Wilmington for a two-day tournament. The event kicks off with a 10:30 a.m. match against Winthrop on April 2.
