Box Score

Sept. 24, 2017

Final Stats

Conway - It took a couple of extra minutes in overtime, but Virginia Commonwealth was able to score the game's lone goal to defeat Coastal Carolina 1-0 in men's soccer action.

It didn't take long for the visitors to get the match winner as Francescor Amorosino took a ball into the CCU defenders and snuck a shot just under CCU goalie Braulio Linares-Ortiz for the lone score and match-winner just 1:23 into the overtime period.

The two teams had several chances to score during the match, but both goalies had excellent outings. CCU outshot VCU 14-9 with both teams having six shots on goal.

Mario Sequeira had six saves in picking up the win, while Linares-Ortiz had five.

Martin Melchor took a match-high four shots for CCU while Henrik Mueller, Frantzdy Pierrot and Yazeed Matthews each had two. Matthews was playing his first match since the first week of the season, as he is getting over a leg injury.

CCU's next match will be Sept. 30 when they travel down to Columbia to face South Carolina.
